Our Vision

Brothers & Sisters, we are at a crossroads in our organization. For decades the Teamsters have been plagued by a system of fear, bullying, retaliation, intimidation, and retribution. Under this system of governance, the members have suffered.

The employers have taken full advantage of this. Employers also use these same tactics to brutalize our members. Our members should not be afraid of the employers or their union officials. Unfortunately, this is the case.

The Teamsters can never be all we can & should be until we get rid of these elements. It all starts at the top.

Unfortunately, our current General President acts like a king and wants us to be blind faithful subjects—just like the bosses want. Until we  get that mindset out of our own organization we can never get it out of our workplaces.

Our platform is about eliminating this current system and giving our members real power.
Power in negotiations. Power on the Shop floor. Power in their locals. Power in their Joint Council's and power in the fight against their respective employers.

MORE POWER, NO FEAR

OUR TEAM

Richard Hooker Jr.

Richard Hooker Jr. is the Secretary-Treasurer and Principal Officer of Teamsters Local 623 in Philadelphia, a position he's held since 2020. Under his leadership,  Local 623 has added new bargaining units, mobilized a formerly dormant membership, and won big in contract negotiations. A leader in the Philadelphia area labor movement Hooker is recognized beyond the Teamsters as a relentless fighter for the working class. Now, he's running for General President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

Jeffrey Schenfeld

Jeffrey Schenfeld is running as an International Trustee on the FEARLESS SLATE. His Teamster journey began in 1996 at UPS in Uniondale, NY, where he started as a part-timer and later became a full-time package car driver. After relocating to Texas in 2006 and briefly working as a TCD, Schenfeld returned to full-time package car driving in 2012 as a proud Dallas Hub Texas Teamster. Since then, he's served Local 767 members as a Union Steward and Business Agent, consistently demonstrating a commitment to stand by them. Schenfeld believes that helping, empowering, and serving the membership is his purpose, striving to deliver a union that truly has its members' backs.

John Palmer

John Palmer is running as a candidate for Vice President at-Large on the FEARLESS SLATE. John Palmer, a 38-year Teamster, has a distinguished career marked by extensive service. Following his time as a medic in the U.S. Army, he worked as a City P&D Driver for Red Arrow Freight Lines and ABF. Within the Teamsters, Palmer has held significant positions including Business Agent for Local Union 657, International Organizer, and Southern Region Vice President. He is currently a Vice President at Large, a testament to his dedication and leadership within the Brotherhood. He's running for International Vice President.

CHristophe Silvera

F. Christophe Silvera is the Secretary-Treasurer and Principal Officer of Teamsters Local 808 in Long Island City, New York, a position he's held since January 1990, making him the longest-serving principal officer in the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He is running  as a candidate for Vice President at-Large on the FEARLESS SLATE. His career began in 1982 by organizing Conrail co-workers to join the Teamsters. Under his leadership, Local 808 represents diverse workers and is a beacon of labor activism and militancy. Silvera is known for securing significant contract improvements and for negotiating a groundbreaking "shutdown agreement" with Swingline. He also became the first elected chairman of the Teamsters National Black Caucus in 1999 and was instrumental in getting President Bush to rescind an Executive Order affecting post-Katrina rebuilding.

Jeffrey Vaughan

Jeffrey Vaughan serves as Secretary-Treasurer, Business Agent, and Principal Officer of Teamsters Local No. 29 in Verona, VA. He is running as a candidate  for Vice President at-Large on the FEARLESS SLATE. With 33 years at UPS, his experience spans roles from Preloader to Full-Time Package Car Driver in Charlottesville, VA, and he boasts 25+ years as a Shop Steward at Charlottesville UPS. Running for Vice President at Large, Vaughn is dedicated to advocating for every Teamster's rights, ensuring company accountability, restoring union unity, and enhancing wages, pensions, and healthcare benefits to empower members.

Michael Moxley

Michael Moxley is the President of Teamsters Local 29 in Virginia and a candidate for Vice President At-Large.  He ran for office at Local 29 because he was tired of seeing members' voices ignored, unresolved grievances, and a failure to stand up to UPS management. Since taking office, Moxley has worked to restore transparency, hold management accountable, and ensure every member has a voice. Now, he's bringing that same fight to the national level, challenging the current International Brotherhood of Teamsters administration to bring real accountability and member-driven leadership to the IBT.

Evette Avery

Evette Avery has been a dedicated Teamster at UPS for 19 years, serving as a Union Steward for 17 of those years. She is now running for International Trusee on the FEARLESS SLATE. As a true unionist, she has stood in solidarity on picket lines with Teamster members from Republic Waste (Local 728) and UPS Aircraft Maintenance (Local 2727), as well as workers from AT&T (CWA), the Fight for $15 Campaign (Atlanta Jobs With Justice), Delta Workers Unite (IAM), TSA Workers Action (AFGE), Uber/Lyft Drivers (Rideshare Drivers United), UAW, and Amazon. Avery’s commitment to workers' rights runs deep; she once faced termination from a former employer for her efforts to organize workers, an experience that sparked the #StandWithEvette Campaign. Her passion lies in empowering members to fight, not only through the grievance process but also by navigating agencies like the NLRB and EEOC, leading to numerous victories for her fellow workers.

Be FEARLESS

Open Bargaining

institutional renewal

internal organizing

Open bargaining for contracts is essential. Full transparency at the bargaining table empowers members, holds negotiators and employers accountable, and builds trust. Hiding information creates doubt and weakens the membership.

internal organizing

Internal organizing and education is crucial. As Ron Carey said, "you can't organize new members if you're constantly selling out the ones you have." We must educate, empower, and elevate our members, not just on contracts and grievances, but also on societal issues. We need to prepare the next generation for leadership through action, not just tough talk.

institutional renewal

In any organization there comes a time when institutional practices become outdated, when bureaucracy seems to serve no function. A review of our organizational functions and practices is in order. Our union works best when it is efficient and democratic.

Union Democracy

a united labor movement

institutional renewal

The Teamsters have made great strides in expanding union democracy at the International and at the Local level. However, rank-and-file members still do not have a say in  Joint-Council elections. We need direct rank-and-file elections at every level. Wherever your dues go, your vote for union leadership should follow.

Our current General President has isolated us from the rest of the labor movement by aligning with an anti-worker administration. When workers' rights and protections were threatened, there was no demand from our leadership to fight back. To win we need a united labor movement.

Despite promises to bring UPS "to their knees," our members are suffering from excessive overtime, constant harassment, and a lack of consequences for the company, buildings are closing, and jobs are being lost. If we're serious about standing up to UPS we need to be prepared to walk the line.
